Bringing the "Blue Bomber" into a new age of Rock!

First and foremost, this is my first post on Hubpages. So, please don't feed me to the wolves just yet.

This hub shall be dedicated to bringing you news and insights into video gaming and related film, video, and music.

Today's post is focusing on an amazing remix of a classic video game's music.

I'd like to bring into the spotlight a band who truly goes above and beyond, by taking a game that had no true story, and making a metal/rock opera. This band is The Megas and the subject is a truly timeless game, Mega Man 2.

For those of you who haven't ever played this epic nintendo classic, here's the skinny.

That sly asshole with the epic 'stache, Dr. Wily, is at it again, with the nefarious plan of, you guessed it, trying to take over the world (he's not known for originality). You, as the infamous "Blue Bomber" MegaMan, must go around the world defeating his new set of 8 robot masters.

This game is incredibly fun, and proves just how hard as nails old school platforming games really were.

But enough of the game itself, it's time for the music! (see Amazon link below to hear sample tracks and to purchase this album). Just like Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", or the Who's "Tommy", I highly recommend that you listen to this album in order. What I find extremely clever, and what many fans of both the music and the game do not know, is that the track order matches the order in which you should defeat the bosses.

One thing that I truly love about this album is that each of the songs is written in each particular robot master's voice, from their point of view. Also, each song has its own style: no two are alike. They range from classic metal to funk to western to power ballad. Each one also sets the tone of the original gaming level quite well. Some of my personal favorites are Metal Man's and Quick Man's songs, "Metal Dance" and "The Quick and the Blue", respectively.

If you decide you want to take up playing MegaMan 2 again (or for the first time), give this a shot: hit mute and play this great album instead. For maximum effect, synch up each song with the corresponding level as you play. It's more epic than watching "The Wizard of Oz" with "The Dark Side of the Moon" . . . and a much better trip.

In the comments section below please list one of your favorite games from your childhood and perhaps a band that covers the music. I hope you've enjoyed my first article. There are many more to come. Thank you for visiting!

I love Mega Man. I will try to buy this album. Thanks for sharing. But really, I love Mega Man (we call it Rock Man) since then. I can still remember my favorite villain, Cut man.

This was an entertaining read! I must admit as much as I enjoy listening to the Megas I had no idea about the track orders. Shows how much observational skills I have, haha!

This was an entertaining read.
